A meeting was held on the development opportunities of low-emission and zero-emission transport

The Transport Innovation Association organized a remote meeting dedicated to discussing the development directions of low-emission and zero-emission transport, as well as the infrastructure required for it, in the period 2026–2030. During the meeting, Lithuania’s key goals and plans in the transport sector were presented, along with current and planned support measures that are important for future progress.

During the event, it was emphasized that sustainable support is the main instrument driving transport decarbonization. The support measures that are still available were presented, as well as future plans of different ministries. We can conclude that:

• Support is expected to decrease and will be more targeted toward socially vulnerable groups;
• Only a few measures will maintain consistent continuity.

TIA drew attention to the lack of support in 2026 for the acquisition of heavy-duty vehicles. We emphasized the need to continue the measure encouraging the use of biomethane-powered trucks. We also clearly stated the position that new sources of support must be sought from 2027, with the start of the new EU Multiannual Financial Framework.

Presentations during the meeting were delivered by: Agnė Bagočiutė, Director of the Lithuanian Energy Agency; Ramūnas Rimkus, Head of the Strategic Planning Division of the Budget and Investment Department at the Ministry of Transport and Communications; Vilija Augutavičienė, Head of the Climate Change Group at the Ministry of Environment; Aurimas Salapėta, Head of the Sustainable Energy Policy Group at the Ministry of Energy; and Vilma Jasinskienė, Head of the Transport Infrastructure and Transport Projects Division at the Environmental Project Management Agency.
